ASUS Unveils New Z890 Motherboards
ASUS has introduced a range of Z890 motherboards from the ROG Maximus, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, Prime, and ProArt families, designed to support Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2). The company is celebrating this launch with new motherboard features that enhance performance and simplify the building process.
One of the new features is ASUS AI Advisor, a natural-language build assistant powered by AI. Other features include AEMP III, NitroPath DRAM Technology, DIMM Fit for DDR5 memory kits, and NPU Boost for overclocking the integrated NPU in an Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) CPU to enhance AI performance.
ROG M.2 PowerBoost provides more M.2 slots on a motherboard than ever before. Additionally, Thunderbolt 5, WiFi 7, and new PC DIY features have been added to the lineup.
Intel Core Ultra Processors (Series 2)
The new Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) use the LGA 1851 socket. Users will need an Intel 800 series motherboard, specifically a Z890 motherboard, to take advantage of CPU overclocking. These processors feature up to 24 cores in a new disaggregated architecture, with P-cores for high clock rates and E-cores for multithreaded performance.
Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) come with an integrated neural processing unit (NPU) for handling neural network workloads efficiently. The processors also offer improved integrated graphics performance with Xe LPG architecture.
NPU Boost and AI Performance
ASUS Z890 motherboards feature NPU Boost, a BIOS feature that overclocks the NPU to increase performance in AI-powered applications by up to 24%. This allows users to explore, dream, and create freely with accelerated AI performance.
DDR5 Memory Kits
ASUS Z890 motherboards support high-performance DDR5 memory modules. The new NitroPath DRAM Technology enhances slot retention force and reduces noise interference for faster data transfers between the DRAM and CPU.
ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile III (AEMP III) empowers users to achieve unparalleled memory performance with cutting-edge CUDIMM memory. A two-phase tuning process optimizes clock driver and memory frequency for the best balance between performance and stability.
Thunderbolt 5 and WiFi 7
Thunderbolt 5 ports on ASUS Z890 motherboards support up to 80 Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth, with up to 120 Gbps with Bandwidth Boost. WiFi 7 support offers link speeds up to 6.5 Gbps for a premium wireless networking experience.
ROG M.2 PowerBoost
ROG M.2 PowerBoost on select ASUS Z890 motherboards allows for up to seven M.2 slots on a single motherboard. This feature intelligently converts the +12V power supply rail to +3V to accommodate more drives, including high-speed PCIe 5.0 options.
Easy PC DIY
ASUS Z890 motherboards feature several enhancements to make PC building easier. The BIOS interface has been updated for better resolution, and the BIOS Q-Dashboard interface provides a visual representation of the motherboard layout. Features like ASUS EZ Flash and MyHotKey simplify BIOS updates and boot device selection.
Other features like PCIe Slot Q-Release Slim for easy graphics card removal, M.2 Q-Slide for installing M.2 drives, and ASUS DriverHub for managing drivers and utilities streamline the building process.
