DDR5-6000 is the optimal memory speed for the AMD Ryzen 8000G APU.

During CES, PCWorld had a conversation with Donny Woligroski, Technical Marketing Manager at AMD. The focus of the discussion was on the new Ryzen 8000G APUs, and PCWorld obtained some additional details that were not included in AMD's official press materials.

According to AMD, the officially supported memory speed for the Ryzen 8000G APUs is DDR5-5600, which is an improvement from the DDR5-5200 speed of the Ryzen 7000-series CPUs. However, it is worth noting that the Ryzen 7000-series CPUs can handle faster memory speeds, and AMD has an unofficial memory "sweet spot." Similar to the Ryzen 7000-series, the Ryzen 8000G-series APUs perform best with DDR5-6000 memory.

It remains uncertain whether the Ryzen 8000G-series will support even faster memory speeds or if they will experience issues beyond DDR5-6000, as some Ryzen 7000-series CPUs do unless a 1:2 ratio is used. Woligroski also emphasizes that using dual-channel memory is essential for maximizing the performance of the new APUs, although this should not come as a surprise to anyone.
