During Bilibili World 2025, ASUS unveiled the unique ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Real Gold Edition, a GPU made with actual real gold. Weighing 7.24 kg, the card includes 5 kg of 24-karat gold on its frame, backplate, and outer shell, giving its materials alone a value of over half a million US Dollars. ASUS China's general manager Tony Yu, also known as "Uncle Tony" online, presented the piece alongside content creator partner "Talented Cai Qian." The sand-mold casting process used created an uneven, almost molten texture on the calligraphy and cooling fins, setting this one-off prototype apart from mass-produced designs.

This solid-gold edition follows the previous Dhahab OC line, which had only a thin layer of precious metal, and now serves as a symbol of luxury. The gold's value alone, based on current bullion prices, exceeds that of a fully loaded AI server. ASUS has not yet announced where the card will go next, but it may be auctioned off like previous limited editions signed by NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, with proceeds going to children's hospitals. While gamers typically prioritize performance per watt, this card is not a cost-effective choice. The RTX 5090D silicon inside remains the same, and the large gilded cooler may not fit in most standard chassis, making it a prized possession mainly for collectors.
